Our Kaupapa | Te Ākau Lane
Te Ākau Lane began as a love for planners and design, and grew into a kaupapa: weaving atua and pūrākau into the everyday. We believe that planning our days and adorning our homes can also be acts of connection, revival, and resistance.
Our spaces surround us with whakapapa, resilience, and beauty. While tools and technology may evolve, including AI as one of today’s creative tools, our focus remains firmly on the kaupapa: keeping the presence of our atua and our Māoritanga alive, relevant, and inspiring!
This mahi is my voice and my reminder. I may not hold power in government or institutions, but I do have a voice and this is how I choose to use it: by bringing our culture back into view, where it can be seen, heard, and acknowledged.
For too long silence has been expected of us. I refuse that silence. These works are my interpretations, grounded in tikanga and wairua, created to remind, to affirm, and to speak alongside others. Your voice matters too! Use it, and join the chorus that declares: “we will not be silent again!”
At Te Ākau Lane, we believe our atua and our stories are not just from the past, they are guides for today and inspiration for tomorrow.
